Creating a WordPress Website
Posted on July 27, 2013
1) It’s not that easy to do it yourself when you are new to WordPress.
It remains pretty technical. If you are not a techie, you should probably hire someone on oDesk.com to do it for you.
2) But it’s not that difficult to learn.
And if you are aspiring to run an online business, it is a good investment of your time to learn how to create and manage a WordPress website.
3) Once you are up to speed, it’s a great platform.
After only 2 days of messing around with WordPress I was able to create a contact form page in less than 10 minutes. The platform is really robust for blogging and there are so many themes and plugins available. It’s really Awesome!
4) Create a beautiful looking website in a weekend!
Yes, I created this nice looking personal website in one weekend. But I am a geek and I worked about 30 hours over 2 days to get my hosting, WordPress and content done right.
5) Find yourself a great WordPress theme on ThemeForest.net
Your personal brand and reputation are core elements that will amplify your message. You don’t have a second chance to make a first impression. The first impression is registered in your visitor mind within seconds of landing on your website. Make sure the design is clean and simple.
6) Hosting setup and configuration must be done right
It is critical that you start on a solid foundation. Setting your WordPress properly is critical. I am using GoDaddy hosting an they recommended me to install WordPress on a Linux server. Hosting is cheap. If for any reason you feel your hosting is playing games on you, you should call technical support and investigate. Your worst nightmare is losing your work and having to start from scratch again. Make sure to have backups of your website.
